I have been touched by novelists, poets, essayists, and writers of memoir. Like most readers, I have known the resonance produced by a great work which moved me to seek change, or to see an experience in a new way, or at the very least, to reinvestigate a perspective.

It is my simple hope, a hope I'm sure all writers share, that a well placed word, sentence, or the overall texture of a piece might reach within and touch a soul.

I've taken as a bold motivation, Elie Wiesel's thought that, "Words can sometimes, in moments of grace, attain the quality of deeds." And it is my prayer that my words provide a situation of grace, out of which would grow genuine acts of compassion.
